Skirt Wars- Stephanie's "Bad A$$ Black" Sweet Spot Skirt

Read about the friendly competition amongst our staff:  Skirt Wars.

"Since the inception of the company, I have had women who will only wear black workout clothes come and ask for a black skirt.  Hip hapnyn has a black second side… with our number one first side of Black, Red and White.  Still they pleaded with me at events, in the store and online to make an all black skirt.

Safety is important to me and when you are wearing a skirt, women look at it and say to themselves, "Wow how cute I want to look like that in a skirt"…. Men see a skirt and crank their head sideways with an approving grin and say,  "skirt!!!"  Either way if you are biking or running everyone is seeing you and hopefully the bright colors provide you with added safety.

If you look at the world of athletic skirts, everyone has a black skirt on the market.  I wanted us to be different.  :) Well, three years into this adventure and after hundreds of suggestions…. I gave in and created Bad A$$ Black.  Just like the fun colored patterns on the pockets and linings of jeans, I added a one color panel on the inside of the skirt.  You can wear it reversed for a splash of cover on your backside.  It will be a limited print for now.  I have to see how popular it is in skirt wars.  One thing about black….keep your lint brush handy!  lol

This very black skirt does have a secondary ability to make you feel bad a$$ while you are working out, running, biking, or just strolling around town!  I may add one simple colored snap just to break up all the black… i guess we will have to wait and see!  :)

Please buy my skirt….it is black!"

Skirt Wars- Nicole's "Camellia" Sweet Spot Skirt

"My name is Nicole and I'm the Junior Designer! My skirt Camellia is covered in fancy florals and gold metallic flakes. It's a fashion-forward, feminine skirt that is dressy and eye-catching. The fabric caught my eye because I used to be a serious ballet dancer and the peach blossoms are the color of ballet slippers! Camellia should win Skirt Wars because its the best!"  Find Camellia here.

"Turn Heads with 'Sweet Spot-Light,' the (arguably) most versatile Skirt Wars Skirt!  I wanted to appeal to the inner athlete with my skirt selection. The front covers such a variety of bright, lively colors that are perfect with your running/biking/sport apparel.  But don't worry, you're not limited to looking sporty.  The reverse Tiffany blue with white stitch detailing is perfect to dress up for an outing with friends." - Samara, Marketing Director

"I am Dianna, the Shop Manager.  When I went fabric shopping, I had it in my mind that I wanted a purple skirt for Skirt Wars.  However, after searching and searching, I just couldn't find the perfect design.  Mary, the Director of Ops, was shopping with me, and casually said "Dianna, you love red.  You always wear red.  Why aren't you looking for a red skirt?"  After that, I immediately found my perfect red and black combo.  Sometimes it takes a little teamwork!  I think you'll love both sides of this beautiful skirt."

"My name is Mary and I am the Director of Operations and bookkeeper for Sweet Spot Skirts.  I simply love all shades of blue and keep an eye out for blue when fabric shopping.  As soon as I saw these Cobalt blue batik fabrics I knew I had to choose them for the Skirt War!  The simple Cobalt and Black graphic on the main fabric is stunning and versatile.  Plus, I was pleasantly surprised at how the blue side two looks like a deep ocean blue and sewed up so well.  After choosing this fabric I was in New York for a long weekend and saw that Cobalt is a big color trend for this winter season.  Of course, it will never go out of style in my closet.  Choose Cobalt Crusader for skirt war!  Go Cobalt!!" Sweet Spot Skirts Photo Contest

Thank you to everyone who participated in the second annual SSS Photo Contest!  The judges are busy reviewing and voting, and the winners will be announced around mid-January.  The SSS crew loves seeing happy customers taking their skirts everywhere from their local 5K run to the market in Istanbul.

As we review this year's entries (there's still time if you want to "Like" your favorites in the case of a judges tie!), here's last year's winner, Tracy:

Tracy, 2012 Photo Contest Winner, and Friends

"Hello! I am sending this photo from our mountain bike ride... It shows all four skirts that I won in the photo contest last year, plus the one that I already had.  I absolutely LOVE all the skirts that you sent. They all get plenty of use. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

Who will win this year's contest (and the wardrobe of awesome athletic skirts)?
