Sweet Shenna Quilt #5

This is Sharon, the recipient of our Sweet Shenna Quilt #5.  Fighting cancer is a cause dear to our hearts, as Stephanie (the owner of Sweet Spot Skirts) lost her mom to breast cancer when she was 12 years old. Her mother, Sharon Allan, was only 36. Sharon's nickname, given to her by Stephanie’s father, was “Shenna”.
In memory of her mom, Stephanie has begun a line of lap quilts and matching pillows from pink Sweet Spot Skirt scraps. Scraps are boxed and sent to Deaver WY, where cousin Jean creates beautiful quilts and pillows. We have the lucky job of giving them away to amazing women across the country who are battling cancer.

Where are the quilts now?

  • Our first Sweet Shenna quilt went to a wonderful woman, Ursula, who had just gone through a double mastectomy (and might we add she has completely recovered and is cancer free!!!)
  • Sweet Shenna #2 was donated to Doernbechers Children’s Hospital as a fundraiser for children with cancer.
  • Sweet Shenna #3 was lovingly given to Sharon who is currently fighting cancer. Our desire is that during her battle and healing, she is comforted by her quilt!
  • Sweet Shenna #4 was used to raise money for ‘the power of pink’ by a wonderful mother-daughter team in Washougal, Team Mackenzie.
  • Sweet Shenna #5 has just been given to Sharon Sunnell, pic above!

Sharon had surgery today and is resting now. Her son, Forrest, started the "Just Do Two" movement that encourages people to get moving consistently every day and support each other in their goals.  It's our hope that this quilt will bring Sharon a small spark of happiness and joy each day, knowing that the Sweet Spot Skirt team is cheering her on!
