Mom and daughters together for GAR |
One wonderful aspect of participating in events like GAR is that they benefit one or more charities or non-profit organizations. A majority of events these days have a designated beneficiary, and some events have multiple local and national non-profit organizations which directly benefit from involvement with the events!
The KP Great Aloha Run, as noted in their promotional video, was "magical and more than a run". Each year, this race benefits multiple local charities and vital programs. The event has given back an impressive $10.9 million to the community over the years! That's fantastic!
Other events on our 2016 schedule which contribute to non-profit organizations include:
Bloomsday Run in Spokane, which benefits it's Official Charity, the Salvation Army
Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in Portland, Oregon and Girlfriends Run for a Cure in Vancouver, Washington are a couple of events that are closer to home. Both of these annual events have raised and donated amazing amounts of funding over the years for research, support and programs for fighting breast cancer and supporting survivors.
And you know that, just by participating, you also support the charities that benefit from the races. Way to go! It's a great way to do something good for yourself and your own health, while doing something good for your community and for important organizations.
So, as we continue through the year, watch for which events give back to organizations and consider doing extra events that support your favorite causes. And if they're on our Upcoming Events schedule, be sure to stop by and see us in the expos.
We can't wait to see you at the events this year!
